Based on his shortform videos, I USED TO LIKE dr taraban until i bought his book.

i should also say i used to like jordan peterson for same reason, and now despise him after trying to listen to his 12 rules book, i couldnt even finish it. its 97% fukking bafflegarble as vox would say. upside is i think i found voxday after hating 12 rules and googling it for more info.

Dr tarabans book was not much better, now ive lost all kinds of respect for him just from his shitty book.

Never bought his book. It was absolutely clear from his videos the man is lost.

I watched a number of his videos, until I got sick of his nihilistic utilitarianism. He embraces such a "utility based" view of human relationships, that someone with a spark of life in his soul has to ask, "Why the fuck would you even want a relationship, you jaded asshole." Sorry to be harsh, but man... if you are on the edge of suicide, just watch Orion Taraban videos to push you over the edge. I jest, but... well, not really lol.

I came across Orion from your other post about him, if I remember correctly. I watched probably fifty or so videos of his. You're absolutely right that he's unhappy. Cynical and jaded I would call him, and it shines through in his videos. I think he's just a Delta who's insecure, overthinking things and uses his knowledge of psychology to outkick his coverage with women only to get badly burnt and heartbroken. But instead of blaming himself for having flown too close to the sun he turns around and stops believing in things like love and marriage and lifelong commitment. That's my take from him anyway.

I started to reply, then realised the answer was post-length... so your comment resulted in a new post.

When people say “overthinking things”, does that mean that analysis can only go so far, and you should learn to listen to and rely upon intuition?

Basically it means you tend to get so caught up in thinking about everything, big and small, that you forget that eventually you just have to DO something, even though your calculated probabilities aren't perfect.

Hard or not, he does look a lot younger than his years, so he has that considerable advantage going for him. I always assumed he was early thirties and was incredulous when I learned to the contrary. I suppose it is a combination of good genetics and clean living.

It was interesting to learn from you about his “recovering romanticism”, multiple historical rejections, heartbreak etc., which I never picked up on from the couple dozen videos from his own channel I’ve seen (though I haven’t viewed his guest appearance that you linked).

"He self-admittedly stated he thinks he was not less intelligent or less attractive than his friends who were doing better with women"

What does this even mean? "I don't think I'm shorter than my friends who are taller than me"

He seems to be admitting he doesn't understand why he's less successful?

He’s basically a man whose sexual ambition exceeds his personal limitations. Mostly, I would suggest, because he does not play in his lane. His intellect demands of him a more good looking woman than his body and general countenance is able to secure
