1911 has too many parts. .357 mag, bullet too small in diameter, .45 6 gun only needs a somewhat usable barrel and a hammer that still swings. Can fire it with a hammer or a stick of wood. Thus my choice. Also, since I am 83, I must be in the significant minority.

I chose the .357 magnum revolver- I have two, both Rugers, one with a 3" barrel and one with a 6" barrel, so I'm familiar with the gun already and I'm a fairly good shot. It's a big enough round to take out large predators, but you can still hunt with it. It blows a nice big hole out the back of anyone that comes looking for some air conditioning. Additionally, I prefer 6 sure shots than 15 maybes. Easy to use, easy to clean, and reliable.
