Since beginning the lifestyle change journey there has been some awesome progress with solidifying a workout routine between 3-4 days a wk at hm, bc the gym is another expense. Keeping a journal to track my weight and food/liquid intake. Since July 31st to present the adjustments have helped me lose 20 lbs the right way. My goal is 40 more lbs as I was a bit fat to start with. I was not seeking quick speedy results, my purpose for this was to develop the mindset for a full lifestyle change. In that it's been a success. My failures are my occasional carb indulgences, limited bc it doesn't feel good. I also used to be a cracker snacker, now rejecting the snacks! When I have a sweet tooth I typically go for 70% + dark chocolate, it helps curve the cravings. Just need to increase my green tea to help wean down to one cup of coffee a day. I love my coffee so it's a little harder than all the rest. Looking for a nice loose leaf green tea to switch to. Not sure what finally clicked but thank you for starting this post because I think the accountability thing was something that worked for my female brain. I've spent so many years on and off, different attempts at getting fitter but none ever worked. Just happy to have the habit formed so it will always be something I am working towards. I also don't have the priorities that you have so it makes these choices easier for me. I would prefer the same priorities that you have, hopefully some day. Your 6 helpers keep you and your wife plenty active! Its movement!
😂 I know but it's those wholesome moments that are just worth so much more.
Glad to hear you got some time in for yourself. Keep healing, it sounds like that illness really did do a number on all of you. Peel those oranges the right way! 🤣
Gym 2-4x a week, full-body routine. Focusing on muscle building and strength. I do cardio here and there if I have time, resulting in very little. Mostly due to lack of motivation than real lack of time.
I’m back in jits. Training with my son. I was demoted and look like the pillsbury doughboy trying to get through a warmup. Cant do a single pull up yet. The win is that I’m sore all the time and when I’m in pain my brain tends to drift less so I can concentrate on work during the day. Adding standup soon when finances allow. I look forward to training and can’t wait to compete again.
You are overly hard on yourself. You have many valid reasons and competing priorities. Having five kids at 55/56 at their ages is a singular valid reason.
Your not-exercising is resulting in some highly enjoyable writing!
After not working out for a little over a week (just doing Qi Gong and Tai-chi daily), I pumped out 30 pushups before failing. Food for thought. On 2nd thoughts, It might be the after-burn effect of Creatine which I was taking until I ran out 2 weeks ago (not for muscle-building, tho it apparently has that side-effect).
The night before last, I walked a mile and a bit wearing a weighted backpack; last night, I practiced rope flow in the yard; today, I intend to humiliate myself by trying to jump rope for more than 10 seconds; tomorrow: who knows. Every day, I try to do a little Tai Chi. Doesn't always happen. You can only do what you can do.

I just do an escalating set over the week, push ups, crunches, leg raises, squats, dead fish flops.
All to exhaustion, then I shower and get on with my day.
Very good

Not to be a total Paki of anything, but I know who I want one of my kids breeding with. God bless.
