Mispelling German words on purpose is how we keep the actual Germans out.
They still deny that 'Stardenburdenhardenbart' is German for 'cat'.

It occurred to me while reading this that the German "Reich" might be from the same root as the English word "reach" as in "the upper reaches of the Thames".
