Interested. I'm older by a decade and used to do a martial art but abandoned about 10 years ago due to an unrelated injury. Not doing anything now beyond Tai-chi.
Thanks. I'm interested. I might actually spring for the book. And will definitely sign up if you do anything Systema-related here. (I know nothing about it.)
Not currently a paying subscriber, but I'll mention I would be interested in the ways that the hard work of the farming life do and do not contribute to the kind of physical fitness you are seeking.
Great post. Thank you for that. I upgraded to paid, which I should have done previously in any event.
I'm in about your age range, and my preferred regimen is also a focus on bodyweight, calisthenics style exercises -- "convict conditioning". I need to up the cardio and endurance as that really does translate into better quality of life in a way that pure resistance training cannot.
What you said about farming life comports with some of what I suspected: it can make one exceptionally strong, but also is skewed and lacks balance as it is focused on specific tasks, and can really take a toll on the body in a way that is not entirely conducive to good health.

Some of the Systema style exercises may work well for you if you adapt them a little.

I am interested in the Systema alternative exercises and when/why you do them.
Subbed.
Love the series idea. Would like to hear more on Systema principles and alt exercises I can add to my training.
Would absolutely appreciate this so much! Not having any martial arts training it would be cool to have an opportunity to some exposure to it.

You inspired a post, though probably not the one you hoped...

I say ,do it.
I would much rather have a series on how to live remotely and establish a colony outside urban areas.
Also a series about how to survive in nature would be cool.
You should do word searches on my OG blog, I covered those things quite a bit.
