Short answer: They can't be. Best you can do is minimise threats from non-state actors. If a state actor really wants to they literally have everything you ever produced from the early 1990s to today.
I know you can't 100% secure anything computer/electronic...but you can make it as painful as possible to get in. Eventually, if enough people take those steps we might seriously strain the enemy's ability to go after us collectively. Essentially whack-a-mole but with a lot more moles.
How exactly does that stop us from making our own software that doesn't have the backdoors (assuming we have the requisite coding know how)? China and Russia seem to be debuting their own homegrown options, why can't we?
I'm glad the blog is back up with the new location. I'd been having withdrawal symptoms, continually checking in the old bookmark! Now to my Christmas reading stack, Nazi Moon, or believe! I know what I 'should' be reading but I'm afraid the call of space Nazis is proving to strong! Happy Christmas and a prosperous New year to all!
Thanks for the support and the good wishes. Same back at you! And don't worry, as long as you read all my books and buy several copies for friends and family, all good things will come your way, I am sure! heh!
I know I'll feel stupid asking this when I see the answer but do you have to open this in the substack app to see the blog link? Anything I click on takes me back to your substack. Thanks and a Blessed Christmas to you and your family.
No, it should be visible at the top of the blog, whether you use an app or just a browser, there is a list of links at the top, like about me, E-Books, My Books on Amazon and OG Blog. Clicking on go blog should take you to the OG blog. otherwise just go to https://thekurganblog.com
Reader request: your take on securing computers/electronic communications.

It's hardly going to make a dent. Almost all software has hardwired backdoors in it.

Sorry I miswrote. I meant all hardware has backdoors in it.
