"Because the term “Noblesse Oblige” actually means something to those of us who understand what it actually means, which is, that if we supposedly are “better” (at least here on Earth, by our station granted to us in this world by the Good Grace of God) then it is incumbent upon us, to the best of our limited ability, to be our brother’s keeper."
The true alternative to the insidious "all men are created equal" garbage.
"And my run on sentences would make a writer from the 1800s proud..."
Thanks for sharing this. Re: The enlightenment and meritocracy I think a lot of these trad Christians see the modern world as a product of the enlightenment and meritocracy and since it’s corrupt and evil they think meritocracy is evil. But as you point out, science coexisted with Catholicism for a long time so it’s not science or meritocracy that is bad . In a sense they are throwing the baby out with the bath water
Too many people on Substack write in abysmal ignorance of what they are supposedly "experts" on. Never trust a man that has never planted a tree, had multiple fist fights, hunted or worked the land, or been a soldier on the ground, telling you how to live a more "traditional" life when they have spent decades in an office with manicured hands.
